Had a client today that is using an older Brother multi function printer/scanner/fax unit that runs Brothers Control Center 3 software which he was using for scanning.
After upgrading to Windows 10 the software was still loaded but would open a white blank page and had no options.
APPLY CONTROLCENTER4 UPDATE. Once the file has been downloaded, you will need to complete the following steps to install it. Locate the file you downloaded CC4Updater and double-click on it. If prompted with a security warning, click Yes or Run. Once the decompression is complete, click OK. Hold down the Control-key and click the installer package file. Choose Open again. The installation will begin. For more information, refer to: 'xxxxxxx.xxx (file name) can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer on Macintosh OSX 10.8 or 10.9' when installing Brother software' 4. On the welcome screen click CONTINUE.
I have tried for weeks to get my Brother printer to work on windows 10.I have done everthing advised by the Brother helpline to no avail,they did tell me that the Brother control center will not work on 10,not compatible.Today I uninstalled the printer,turned it off,unplugged the usb connection to the computer and waited awhile,then plugged the usb back in,turned the printer on and left it to. Control Center 3.0. This app descript what features this notebook support. And user could launch other apps by clicking those icons. User can also switch the power mode via this app.
The solution is to change the program theme from Modern Style to Classic Style which resolves the issue.
Open Regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareBrotherControlCenter3.0CommonConfigSelectedSkin
Change “ModernStyle” to “ClassicStyle”
Reboot your machine and try it again and hopefully it will open correctly!
