Pronunciation: Allahummah dini fiman hadait, wa’a-fini fiman ‘a-fayt, wa tawallani fiman tawallait, wa ba-rik lana fima a’tait, wa qinaa sharrama qadait, innaka taqdi bil-haqqi wala yuqida’ alaika, wa innah la Yadhillu man waalait, wa laa ya’izzo man aadayt taba-rakta rabbana wa ta’alait.
Translation: O, Allah! Guide me also among those whom thou hast guided, grant me security also of those whom thou hast protected, accept my guardianship of those whom thou hast guarded, bless me with that which thou hast gave me. Protect me from the evil of what you have decided. Because you are the one who makes the final decision, the decision is not given against you. The one you have befriended is certainly not humiliated and the one you have been hostile to is not honored. Blessed are you, our Lord! And you are exalted.
Question: I can’t memorize Doa Qunoot. Now what should I do during Dua Qunoot in the third rak’ah of Vitr?
Answer: It is obligatory to recite Qunoot in the Witr prayer. It is recited in the third rak’ah with Surah Fatiha and Takbeer in combination with Surah.
So memorize Dua Qunoot as soon as you can. And before memorizing Dua Qunoot, you can recite the following Dua-
رَبَّنَاۤ اٰتِنَا فِی الدُّنْیَا حَسَنَةً وَّ فِی الْاٰخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَّ قِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Or read لّلّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَنَا or َْسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ a few times.
(Fatawa Hindi 1/160; Almuhitul Burhani 2/280; Fatawa Tatarkhania 2/344; Albahroor Rayek 2 / 42-43; Raddul Muhtar 2/6)
It is obligatory to recite Qunoot in the Witr prayer. It is not acceptable to recite Surah Ikhlas three times instead of Qunoot in prayer. Because Surah Ikhlas is not a Surah containing Qunoot or Doa. The purpose of Kunut is to pray. In this case, even if any prayer other than the specific prayer is recited, the wajib will be fulfilled and the prayer will be valid. However, it is Sunnat to recite the prayers mentioned in the hadith such as ‘Allahumma Inna Nastayinuka’. Therefore, if one does not know this prayer narrated in Hadith, he will learn it quickly.
Any prayer recited will be quenched by it; Even if one or more verses of the Qur’an containing prayers are recited, the purpose of Qunoot will be fulfilled. However, it is better to read the prayer mentioned in the hadith. (Imam Nawabi’s Al-Azkar 50)
If one does not recite any prayer in this case, then the prayer has to be performed again. (Almuhitul Burhani 2/280; Albahroor Rayek 2/42; Raddul Muhtar 1/48; Hashiyatut Tahtabi Aladdur 1/280)
