About 'The Making of a Nation' Radio Program

The Making of the Modern World. The Making of the Modern World is extraordinary for research into the history of the dynamics of Western trade, including the Industrial Revolution in Great Britain, encompassing the coal, iron, and steel industries; the railway industry; the cotton industry; banking and finance; and the emergence of the modern corporation. First World War was a straightforward and relatively conventional narrative history. Gilbert's treatment of the sequel is a lot more direct. On a pragmatic level he was probably just short of space, but the spartan narrative mirrors the brutal, mechanistic nature of the war itself. The Holocaust was the state-sponsored mass murder of some 6 million European Jews and millions of others by the German Nazis during World War II.
